The falls are gorgeous as were the wild flowers. South Willow Creek forms on the slopes connecting Eccles Pass and Red Buffalo Pass, flowing east through a narrow gap between Buffalo Mountain's steep north flank, and Red Peak's long east ridge. Know where you are going because there are multiple intersections. Willow Falls is located along South Willow Creek, just west of Silverthorne, CO in the Eagles Nest Wilderness. One meadow had some nice flowers. Nice acclimation trail, shaded, pretty heavily trafficked. Willow Creek Falls is a 3.2 mile lightly trafficked out and back trail located near Littleton, Colorado that features a waterfall and is good for all skill levels. Helps a ton! I didn't feel like the trail was buggy at all, but came back fairly eaten up so wear your bug spray, which I did not.

There were some mosquitoes but mainly towards the beginning. Lots of bugs for the last mile. Parking can be a problem though. Loved the trail and the water fall. This is the best time of year to visit the falls because the water is just gushing like crazy. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, nature trips, and bird watching and is best used from April until September.Please note that this trail is rather moderate but ranked hard because hikers have reported that it is hard to navigate. Hike definitely was crowded as I came back down and parking lot was then full. Super tiny parking lot, tried to go on a Sunday at 8:30 and we couldn’t get a spot. To the top of buffalo is also rated hard and is substantially more difficult.Good hike overall.

Trail intersects with the Mesa-Cortina trail . We stopped for some pictures and a quick bite to eat and went back. Lots of activity even on a weekday evening. Definitely has an incline on the way back, but definitely worth it!Rocky and steep in places but oh so worth it! Be preparedApple Watch clocked this at 7.6 miles. Very thankful for the all trails mapping because several points where we got off trail. Make sure you save enough energy to come back because it’s trice as difficult of a return hikeClear trail. Falls are amazing. This is a fun trail with varied terrain. Falls are cool. Rained yesterday so was muddy at points. Upside of the rain was that the waterfall was raging. The rocks along the waterfall made for a great spot to rest and cool down.Loved this trail! The bridges over the creek crossing are out but you can makeshift to get over them. We arrived around 11:00 and we were lucky to get a parking spot. Look for the rock stacks. Coming from Minnesota (FLAT land) and only being here for a day it took us about 4 1/2 hours. We saw so many unprepared, out of shape people hiking it that were having a hard time breathing. It is a beautiful hike. The last 3/4 of a mile was pretty rocky and a bit steep but other than that it was pretty flat. Willow Falls - 8.7 Miles Round-Trip. I got there at 7:15 on a Sunday morning and there were only two parking spots left in the upper lot. If physical distancing due to COVID is important to you this trail is one you may want to save for a later date. Trail isn’t necessarily clearly marked.

Saw a moose and mountain goat by the waterfall.This trail is awesome! It is a hard hike, lots of elevation, but a great workout. Great trail, some bridges out but still easy to cross!Nice trail! So grab your favorite fly fishing rod and reel, and head out to South Fork Willow Creek. Our dog loved it...lots of streams to play in. Big meadow is beautiful with lots of wildflowers and a great view of Buffalo Mountain. Beautiful trail the entire time. Very steep and rocky. We missed our first big turn downhill and got off track for almost 0.5 miles.
