Nnamdi Azikiwe, PC (16 November 1904 – 11 May 1996), usually referred to as "Zik", was a Nigerian statesman and political leader who served as the first President of Nigeria from 1963 to 1966.
Became first Nigerian to study in United States, 1925; served as instructor at Lincoln University, 1931-34; became editor of Starting in the mid 1940s, Azikiwe pressed his cause for Nigerian autonomy on the political front as well.
